Florida Medical Center Appoints Trey Abshier as Chief Executive OfficerMar 3, 2020
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (December 9, 2015) – Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore has appointed Trey Abshier as its new chief executive officer. He joins the administrative team with extensive hospital operations and leadership experience, having most recently served as the chief operating officer at Delray Medical Center, a 493-bed acute care hospital in Delray Beach.
“Trey is a dynamic, strong leader with extensive experience creating and implementing strategic and innovative healthcare initiatives,” said Manny Linares, CEO of North Shore Medical Center. “His successful track record and understanding of the South Florida community ensures he will continue to shape the future of Florida Medical Center and strengthen the foundation of excellence already in place.”
During his tenure at Delray Medical Center, Abshier served as the lead administrator for the development, design and construction of a new 4-story patient tower and 5-level parking garage. He also headed the development of a free standing emergency department. In addition, Abshier oversaw various departments, including imaging, interventional radiology, respiratory therapy, EKG, EEG, laboratory, pharmacy, inpatient rehabilitative services, therapy services, plant operations, security, Wound Care Center, Sleep Disorders Program, nutritional services and environmental services.
Prior to his move to Florida, Abshier served as the COO of Regional Medical Center of San Jose in California. Additionally, he served as an associate administrator for Medical Center of Arlington in Texas.
Abshier is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the South Florida Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves as a member of the Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. He has previously served as a member of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders, as well as a board member of the Santa Clara County EMS Foundation.
Abshier earned a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
