Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (June 8, 2015) – Florida Medical Center earns accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) as a Comprehensive Center for bariatric surgery. This recognition acknowledges the hospital’s commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients.

“Congratulations to the team at our Surgical Weight Loss Center of Excellence and our medical director, Dr. Fernando Bayron, for this outstanding recognition,” said CEO Gabrielle Finley-Hazle. “This designation helps to further differentiate Florida Medical Center as a leader in the medical industry.”

The Surgical Weight Loss Center of Excellence at Florida Medical Center offers various surgical options, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and the adjustable gastric band, in addition to nutritional counseling and educational materials. These surgical options are minimally invasive using the da Vinci robotic system, which is designed for a quicker recovery and less noticeable scars.
