A cigarette is about five inches long and less than half an inch in diameter. You might think that something so small might be harmless. But tobacco smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, including 250 that are known to be harmful, such as hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, benzene, chromium, and vinyl chloride.
