We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. To do so, we are actively working with consultants to update the website by increasing its accessibility and usability by persons who use assistive technologies such as automated tools, keyboard-only navigation, and screen readers.

We are working to have the website conform to the relevant standards of the Section 508 Web Accessibility Standards developed by the United States Access Board, as well as the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1. These standards and guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. We believe that conformance with these standards and guidelines will help make the website more user friendly for all people.

Our efforts are ongoing. While we strive to have the website adhere to these guidelines and standards, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. Jim's Knee Replacement Story

Mar 3, 2020

Jim Reichardt, orthopedic surgery patient, Florida Medical Center

Jim Reichardt

Jim Reichardt couldn’t let his knee slow him down. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys boating, swimming and other water sports. He also takes pride in keeping up with his 10 year old granddaughter. In order to remain active, Jim knew that he would need advanced orthopedic treatment for his left knee. In his youth, Jim experienced a football injury while playing in High School and has had to be careful with his knee ever since. He had undergone surgery in the 1980’s and knew that now it was time for a tune up.

When it became apparent that surgery was the only option, Jim decided to turn to the experts and chose the Orthopedic and Spine Center at Florida Medical Center. Dr. Barry Schapiro, orthopedic surgeon on staff, performed Jim’s total left knee replacement and he recovered in the newly remodeled Specialty Surgical Suites at FMC. Jim truly enjoyed the private room and the VIP experience.

During his recovery he was often visited by one of the physical therapists, Anthony. “He was amazing; he helped me get motivated and active again.” Jim recalls that during his recovery the therapists were very focused on recovering his lost strength and mobility; they offered a comprehensive rehab program that exceeded his expectations. Our multi-disciplinary team helped him get back on his feet faster. “Thank you all for the wonderful treatment, you made me feel special and I could tell you had my best interest at heart.”
