Sabrina's Weight Loss Story

Jun 6, 2019
Sabrina, weight loss patient, Florida Medical Center

Steady weight gain leads to real health problems

Sabrina had been overweight much of her life. For a long time, she could live with it. Losing the weight would be a new year’s resolution, but the results never matched her aspirations.

It finally got the point where it was causing serious health problems. “My family always had lots of food around and it showed,” she said. “I was pre-diabetic, obese and I knew I needed help.”

The right help, not so close to home

As a resident of the Cayman Islands, Sabrina was willing to travel for the right hospital, and she ultimately decided to come to The Surgical Weight Loss Center at Florida Medical Center.

Luckily for her, Florida Medical Center is experienced in providing care to patients who don’t life on the mainland.

Like others who have had weightloss surgery, the results have been life changing. And while many grapple with where to have their surgery, Sabrina is happy that she made the right choice.

“It was the clear choice for me,” she said. “I am so glad I had the surgery. I’ve lost over 100 pounds and I’ve kept it off. I am more confident and have more energy.”

Turning her experience into an example

Sabrina’s not stopping at her own path to a healthy weight. She’s also turning into an inspiration for those around her.

She hopes she can set an example for her family, so they can all make healthy choices together, paying forward a decision that changed her life.
